Bio Cups
Because there is an increasing demand for environmentally friendly, eco, sustainable and compostable cups, bio cups have been added to our range. A bio cup is a biodegradable cup and can of course also be printed with your logo.
The demand for sustainable cups is growing, but it is not clear which type of cup has the least impact on the environment. It turns out that reusing a cup in particular determines whether the cup reduces the burden on the environment. Below you will find a description of the different cups so that you can make the right choice for yourself
If you’d like any help in choosing the right cup for your situation, please feel free to contact us.
FSC®
FSC stands for ‘Forest Stewardship Council’. An international non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting responsible forestry. FSC certifies forests all over the world to ensure they meet the highest environmental and social standards.
Products made with wood and paper from FSC forests are marked with our ‘tick tree’ logo. When you see this logo, you can be confident that buying it won’t mean harming the world’s forests.
Sugarcane
Sugarcane is a non-food renewable resource, yielding new harvests annually. Sugarcane-bagasse is the name for the plant. The material used for this cup is made from sugar cane fiber, a waste product after sugar production. This means that no trees need to be cut down for our cups. It is certified compostable and biodegradable
kraft cardboard
kraft paper cups are made from FSC® certified wood fibers. The cardboard is therefore made from wood from responsibly managed forest areas. FSC kraft cups are food safe, taste neutral and moisture resistant. Kraft cups have an authentic, sturdy and natural look.
Bamboo
Bamboo coffee cups are made from the bamboo plant. Bamboo is the fastest growing plant in the world. Every year new trunks are created by the mother plant that grow to adult height in a short time
reUUSI Cups (earthcoating) – recyclable:
The new material we have is called EarthCoating or reUUSI Cups. It’s a highly mineralized plastic that makes the cup recyclable. It uses 46% less plastic in production and can be recycled in any normal paper waste facility. So you can throw the paper cup at home or wherever you are in the paper waste. It’s NOT biodegradable but fully recyclable which is the most eco-friendly solution for drink packaging. More than 95% will actually be paper again. That’s a very good rate and classified as AAA for mixed paper waste (even better than normal card board boxes, which only get an AA). It looks and feels the same as normal PE.
PLA-Cups – biodegradable:
BIO cups are compostable, made from 100% virgin board coated with a “bioplastic” derived from corn starch. This cup will biodegrade into nutrient-rich soil within a 180-day timeline. Cups will certifiably break down into soil within 6 weeks when commercially composted.
